I've recently come into some money and I'm wondering if I should buy a ps4. I was planning on getting one later in the year seeings how I've only bought a ps3 a year ago. I would like your opinion on the matter

Wow, I’m super happy that you came to me for this??? Like, thanks! When it comes to video games, I’m the PlayStation guy!

Whether you want a PS4 or not really depends on which kind of games you want to play. Based on your URL and theme, I’m assuming you’re into RPGs and the only RPGs for PS4 are FFXIV and Child of Light which are both on PS3. Seeing how you’ve just gut a PS3, you have 7 years of games in your backlog and well over a year til the console dies off. So I’d stick to the PS3 until at least next year.

If I were you, I’d look into getting a PS Vita and a year of PS+ instead of a PS4 because the PS4 library is super limited right now, and it’s only gonna get cheaper the longer you wait (hopefully sooner than later). Sony is releasing a new model the PS Vita for 200$ in a couple of weeks too, so you can get that and then use/save the other 200$ for whatever you want! (Maybe save it for the PS4)

A lot of people say that the PS Vita has no games (Sure, maybe two years ago), but I got one last holiday and I’ve hardly used my PS3 since! I know you’re supposed to use them on the go, but tbh, I just sit in bed and play it hours upon hours. With the Vita you can play Vita games (obviously) and all PSP and PSOne games available on PSN in your country, so you can play A LOT.

If you do buy the PS Vita, I can’t stress enough that you should hold off and buy the newer model. Everyone praises the OLED screen on the original Vita, but what they don’t tell you is that in about a month you will see a bunch of dark splotches all over the screen because OLEDs are super saturated and colorful which looks REALLY GOOD but it also makes them die REALLY quickly. With the Vita 2000 you get an LED instead of an OLED but the screen lasts much longer, the battery is “almost doubled,” the finger grips on the back of the screen are more comfortable and you get an extra 1GB of game space (which doesn’t handle much at all if you go digital w/ your games, and keep in mind memory cards are pricey), not to mention you’ll also snag a free copy of Borderlands 2 with 6 DLC packs and even an 8GB memory card, lastly, if you do consider getting the Vita, try to get a white model since fingerprints won’t show against the white on the back touchscreen!

So to sum it up: should you buy a PS4? Nope, instead you should look into getting a PS Vita for the long run!

If you have any other questions about the PS4, PS3 or Vita give me a shout and I’ll tell you everything I know!!
